Rebecca Schade

Associate

Rebecca joined Cogan & Power, P.C. in 2022. Although she was born and raised in the Midwest, Rebecca spent the first years of her legal career working and living in Washington state after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Seattle University School of Law. In law school, Rebecca was a member of the Moot Court Board and participated in many moot court appellate competitions including the Frederic C. Tausend Appellate Competition, the Thomas Tang National Moot Court Competition, the Seattle University In-House Moot Court Competition, and the Domenick L. Gabrielli National Moot Court Competition. Rebecca also received a CALI Award for her work in the Fair Work Center Workers’ Rights Clinic. These experiences laid the groundwork for her passion for oral advocacy.

Rebecca has represented injured people in personal injury, workers’ compensation, and insurance bad-faith cases for her entire legal career – beginning as early as her first year of law school. She is committed to advocating for those that have had their lives upended by injuries and have been treated unfairly by large corporations and insurance companies. Rebecca has successfully represented clients through pre-suit settlement negotiations, arbitrations, mediations, administrative hearings, motions practice, trial, and post-trial appeals.

In 2022, a defendant appealed a trial court decision favorable to Rebecca’s client. Rebecca successfully defended the appeal, and the Washington State Court of Appeals issued a published decision affirming a trial court’s ruling and resulting in case law favorable to plaintiffs.

Although Rebecca is committed to fiercely advocating for her clients in court, her empathy and ability to connect with people allow her to create trusting and supportive relationships with her clients.

One of Rebecca’s passions is providing mentorship and support to new and aspiring lawyers and engaging in the legal community’s many opportunities to volunteer and work with charitable organizations. Rebecca has donated her time to endeavors such as providing free legal advice in a workers’ rights walk-in clinic, serving on the board of an organization that provides resources to survivors of sexual violence and sex trafficking, and writing a chapter in the Washington State Association for Justice Insurance Litigation Deskbook. In her free time, Rebecca enjoys yoga, camping, exploring the city, and trying new and adventurous foods.
